We’ve seen co-ords, we’ve seen check prints, now who would have guessed it…we’ve got check co-ords?
Check is just one of many stand-out trends we can all expect to see catching our eyes as we enter our favourite high street stores this AW18. It’s almost as though we’ll be making up for the layers we didn’t wear over the British heatwave as collections are ranging from boxy check blazers and check bomber jackets, to pleated check skirts and check bodycon dresses. Perfect for all the layering combinations or just to add a hint of style to an outfit.
Whether you have an important interview or an upcoming date, check will be sure to have you standing out from the crowd – and after all, who doesn’t love the look of a girl that seems like she’s totally got her sh*t together (even if she hasn’t).
At the end of her show in Milan Fashion Week (MFW), Prada declared there’s a “constant struggle between retaining femininity and being strong”. I’m sure this is something most of us will agree with. We all want to be strong independent women, as well as respect our god given nature of femininity – combining the two together always tends to end with an uneven scale (“Am I showing too much skin?” “Does this blazer make my shoulders look broad?”). When really, neither of these two rhetorical questions should come in to mind, because quite frankly, who cares? But, we all know there are the few occasions when we really do fight this internal battle with looking strong and feminine at the same time. This is where we feel that tartan check and a few other bold combinations from the AW18 collection (which will be featured soon) will iron out any uncertainty when it comes to fashion conscious decisions.
With the weather dropping in temperature over the past few days, pieces such as bomber coats with a hint of check are also drawing in the attention – such as this ‘Krissy Check Lined Puffer Jacket’ from Urban Outfitters
The check lining inside doubles for a subtle but cute statement for any outfit whilst keeping you toasty warm for the colder temperatures this AW.
